"You will need to have endurance. Then, when you have done what God wants, you will receive what God promised..." Heb 10:36a (Simple English Bible)
I thought my kids would never repeat what I had said when we were driving out of town. After a time of fidgeting and staring out of the windows at nothing in partiuclar, they'd always ask if we were there yet! Just what I asked my Dad when I was a kid. For some reason, the car didn't seem to have turbo-boost, a supercharger or flames jetting out of the engine cowling and so the journey seemed to take forever. We weren't moving very fast at all along the wide freeways. We were crawling at snail's pace!
As Christians, it sometimes feels the same, doesn't it? We are on the treadmill of the world and seemingly getting nowhere real fast. But we must wake up to one fact: For sure, it's going to be a long haul. We running an endurance race. A lifetime of serving, loving, caring and living in the Light. We must be geared to run so we can finish the race, victorious. And the great thing about this particular race is that everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a crown!
I must keep my eye on the crown. It's been promised to me if I am faithful to the end.
There's one waiting for you, too! Did you know that?
